UH Qualifies for National Sloop Championship

POINT RICHMOND, Calif. - The University of Hawaii coed sailing team placed first in the Pacific Coast Conference Sailing Championship Sloop Championship this past weekend. It is the first time since 1992 that the coed team will represent UH at the ICSA Sloop National Championship. UH will travel to Fort Worth, Tex., Nov. 16-18 for the Sloop Championship.

Junior Mark Spector, was the middle, sophomore Ryan Wild was the bow, and newcomer Samuel Kahn was the skipper for UH. Last season UH placed third in the PCCSC Sloops, with Wild and Spector competing in that event. The Rainbows raced seven times for a total of 15 points. Host Cal Maritime Academy was the second place team and earned 21 points. Stanford, USC, UC San Diego, CSU Channel Islands, and Santa Clara were the other teams that participated in the event.
