HONOLULU - For the second straight night, the University of Hawai`i and the University of British Columbia split a men's volleyball exhibition doubleheader in front of 476 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
In the first match, UH outhit BC (.337 to .218) with opposite Rory Brandt leading the way with a game-high 13 kills. Outside hitters Nemanja Komar and Jim Clar each contributed eight kills apiece. Sean Carney dished out 39 assists while Ernie Vidinha led UH with two blocks.
BC was led by Tanner Kozak and Steve Gotch who each boasted nine kills each.
The second match saw the T-Birds scratch and claw out the first two games by two points each, 30-28 and 31-29. UH took the second game, 30-20, before BC closed out the match with a decisive 30-22 win in Game 4.
Andrew Bonner led the way for the T-Birds with 20 kills followed by Robert Bennett's 14. Setter Jared Krause handed out 50 assists.
UH was led by Matt Vanzant's match-high 21 kills with Jacob Schkud adding 11. Setter Nejc Zemljak recorded 48 assists, while Matt Rawson and Keali`i Frank each posted four blocks.
UH hosts Peppderdine for a pair of doubleheaders on Nov. 5 and 6 at the Stan Sheriff Center to close out the fall exhibition schedule.
