MALIBU, Calif. - University of Hawai'i men's tennis player
Sascha Heinemann was eliminated from the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Western Regional Championships, Saturday, at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
The junior, seeded No. 8 in the tournament, fell to unseeded Dean Jackson of San Diego, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the round of 16. The Eschwege, Germany native, ranked No. 50 in the ITA preseason singles rankings, was the last of five Rainbow Warriors to be competing in the regionals. Heinemann, who received a first-round bye, won two straight matches to advance to the final 16 players in the field of 128.
Hawai`i returns home where they will host the USTA Honolulu Futures, Nov. 3-7, at the UH Tennis Complex.
