Rainbow Wahine Finish Aztec Fall Classic In Tie For Second

Final Results

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team (301-302-603) finished the San Diego State Aztec Fall Classic in a tie for second, at 27-over-par, at the Salt Creek Golf Course Tuesday.

Xyra Suyetsugu (76-72-148) put up one of the better rounds of the day to move up into a tie for third at four-over-par. Carolina Perez (76-75-151) completed her solid tournament in a tie for 11th. The two were followed by Corie Hou (77-75-152), tied for 17th, Lisa Kajihara (72-81-153), tied for 23rd, and Erin Matsuoka (85-80-165), tied for 76th.

UC Irvine won the tournament championship at 17-over-par, beating UH and East Tennessee State by 10 strokes. Eastern Washington (+36) finished in third, followed by Middle Tennessee State and Cal State Northridge (+37).

Patty Chawlitmetha of UCI was the individual medalist, finishing at two-under-par. She was followed by CS Northridge's Krystina Gillenwater at onoe-over-par and Suyetsugu, Portland's Paige Rachor and UCI's Kim Lorenzana, at four-over-par.

The Rainbow Wahine will have a week off before hosting their Kent Youel Invitational at Kapolei Golf Course from Oct. 30-31 to close out the fall season.
