Rainbow Wahine In Second After First Day Of Aztec Fall Classic

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team shot an opening-round 301 to hold second place at the San Diego State Aztec Fall Classic at the Salt Creek Golf Course Monday. UH (+13) trails UC Irvine (+9) by just four strokes going into the final round of the tournament tomorrow.

Hawai`i is led by Lisa Kajihara, who shot an even-par 72, tying for second. Carolina Perez and Xyra Suyetsugu both shot a four-over-par 76, tying them for 18th. Corie Hou shot 77, tying for 31st, while Erin Matsuoka put up an 85, tying for 85th.

After UC Irvine and Hawai`i, East Tennessee State (+14), San Diego State (+16) and Eastern Washington and Nevada (+17).

UC Irvine's Patty Chawalitmetha holds the tournament lead at two-under-par. Kajihara and Kim Lorenzana of UCI are tied for second at even par, with Nevada's Melanie De Leon, San Diego State's Alana Erlandson and Montana's Alyssa Williamson tied for fourth at one-over-par.

The final round of the tournament takes place tomorrow at 8 a.m. PDT.
