Bihag, Kobuch Win at Rainbow Wahine Invite

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team opened the first day of competition at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Thursday, at the UH Tennis Complex. Five singles players and two doubles team represented UH in the tournament.

The tournament includes teams from Tulsa, UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge, Hawai`i Pacific, and host UH and will feature both a singles and doubles individual format.

Rainbow Wahine sophomore Sophie Kobuch won both of her matches. In singles play, Kobuch beat the No. 1 player of Cal State Northridge, Kanykey Koichumanova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.

In doubles play, Kobuch and senior Chloe Bihag squeezed by the No. 1 doubles tandem from UC Irvine, Inna Agababian and Clare Fermin, 9-8(3).

The three-day tournament continues Friday, 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
