Heinemann Advances at Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. - University of Hawai'i men's tennis player Sascha Heinemann advanced to the second round in the qualifying draw of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships, Monday afternoon, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Heinemann, the No. 3 seed, rolled over David Kuczer of Southern Methodist in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The junior, ranked No. 50 in the ITA preseason singles rankings, moved one step closer to qualifying into the main draw. The Eschwege, Germany native will next face Hicham Laalej of Stetson, Tuesday, 8:00 a.m.

As a freshman, Laalej was named the 2006-07 Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year, with a 23-3 singles record. Rainbow Warrior sophomore Andreas Weber received an automatic entry into the main singles draw.

Heinemann and Weber will team up and play Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski of New Mexico, Tuesday, 4:00 p.m. in the qualifying doubles draw. Heinemann and Weber are ranked No. 48 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings. The tournament continues throughout the week.
