UC Irvine Captures Rainbow Invite

HONOLULU - UC Irvine blew past a field of 13 teams to win the 2007 Rainbow Invite hosted by the University of Hawai`i, Jan. 20-21, at Keehi Lagoon. The Anteaters tallied 67 points, just ahead of second-place USC, who finished with 76.

Hawai`i fielded three different teams in the regatta, as well as a joint squad with UCLA. The Hawai`i Red team, powered by Mark Spector, Leanne Horvitz, Brittany Peterson, Chip Lollar and Sarah Dosek had the best finish at third place with 109 points. William Whitman, Pamela Magasinn, Andrew Meade and Cassandra Harris helped the Hawai`i Blue squad finish right behind in fourth with 112 points, while the Rainbow Wahine, paced by Crystal Bronte, Jaclyn McLoughlin, Becky Mabardy and Darla Baldwin, placed sixth with 158 points.

Up next for the coed and women's teams will be a trip to South Carolina. The Rainbow Wahine compete in the Charleston Women's Intersectional, Feb. 10-11, while the coed team will participate in the Charleston Spring Invitational, Feb. 24-25.
