No. 15 UCLA Blanks Rainbow Wahine, 7-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif.- The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team was shutout by Pac-10 powerhouse and 15th ranked UCLA, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. This was UH's (0-2) second of a four-match Southern California road trip and the Bruins' (1-0) opening match of the spring season.

UCLA won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles action.

In singles play, the Bruins featured a line-up with two nationally ranked players including No. 61 Tracy Lin, a 6-1, 6-1 winner over senior Kana Aikawa at the No. 1 position. Ashley Joleson, ranked No. 40 nationally, defeated UH freshman Sophie Kobuch, 6-0, 6-1, at court two. Junior Chloe Bihag gave a valiant effort before losing to Alex McGoodwin, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 3 court.

The Rainbow Wahine will have a day off before going against No. 57 San Diego on Sunday at the USD West Tennis Courts. Hawai`i concludes its four-match trip at Cal State Fullerton on Monday.
