PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - University of Hawai`i senior
Sabita Walkup was eliminated from the Rivera/Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American pre-qualifying tournament, Saturday, at the Rivera Tennis Club. Walkup, the lone Rainbow Wahine in the field, fell to LSU's Megan Falcon, 6-3, 6-0.
The prestigious tournament is one of three majors in collegiate women's tennis and features the top players in the country. Walkup, a transfer from Tennessee, was nationally ranked during her three-year career with the Lady Vols.
Falcon was one of the 9-16 seeded players and advances to the second round.
Walkup and the Rainbow Wahine next host the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Oct. 5-7, at the UH Tennis Complex. The four-team tournament will consist of hidden dual matches in which only individual results count toward each player's record.
