LAIE, O'ahu - The Hawai'i women's cross country team completed its three-meet sweep of local competition by capturing the Brigham Young-Hawai'i Invitational, Saturday morning, near the BYUH campus. Junior
Chantelle Laan won her third meet of the season, completing the 5K course with a personal best time of 18:37.
The Rainbow Wahine also posted their best team score of the season, compiling 31 points as four runners placed in the Top 10, including the top three spots. Senior Sharlene Carillo finished second (19:29) just ahead of freshman Tava Tedesco (19:33). Both also posted personal best times.
In the team standings, the host Seasiders placed second (44) followed by Hawai'i Pacific (69) and Chaminade (85).
Also earning qualifying points for the Rainbow Wahine were senior Michel Wilson (9th, 20:49) and sophomore McKenzie Wallace (16th, 21:51).
UH captured the Big Wave Invitational last week and opened the season by winning the Chaminade Invitational, at the same course on the BYUH campus. Laan took home the individual title in both meets.
The Rainbow Wahine will make their first road trip of the season at the Willamette Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 30.
