HONOLULU - The Hawai`i men's tennis team overcame a sluggish performance and a feisty UC Davis squad, with a 5-2 victory, Monday, at the UH Tennis Complex. The 59th-ranked Rainbow Warriors (8-4) posted their fifth consecutive victory after sweeping the doubles matches and winning four of the six singles contests.

UH got off to a quick start in doubles play after junior Chad Faulk and freshman Sascha Heinemann notched an 8-2 victory over brothers Casey and Kyle McMakin, 8-2, at court three. In a battle of sibling rivalry, UH freshman Jeff Fitch and his partner Bryon Weinberg outlasted Jayce Fitch and Jordan Combs, 8-5 at No. 2.

In singles play, senior Jarrod Diepraam made quick work of Combs, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot. Moments later, Heinemann swept Jayce Fitch, 7-6 (1), 6-2, at the top position. After Casey McMakin pulled out a three-set victory over Jeff Fitch, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, at court five, Faulk gave UH the clinching fourth point after rallying for a 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Garcia at No. 3.

The Aggies continued to fight as Michael Chin pushed senior Ryan Sceats to a super-tiebreaker. But the Perth, Australia native proved his dominance in dual matches by winning for the 26th time in his last 29 matches with a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (9) victory.

The Rainbow Warriors will next host Brigham Young, Thursday, March 30. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
