USC Defeats UH In Modified Exhibition Match

HONOLULU - No. 1 ranked USC knocked off No. 5 Hawai`i 19-15 this afternoon in a modified exhibition match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.

About 150 fans witnessed the non-counting match as the Trojans led 4-1 after one quarter and 10-5 at the half. USC then outscored the Rainbow Wahine 6-1 in the third quarter to lead 16-6 heading to the final quarter.

Hawai`i got untracked offensively in the fourth quarter scoring nine times, mainly against the Trojans bench.

UH got five goals from Kelly Mason and four from Iefke Van Belkum.

The match was modified to four-11 minute quarters instead of the usual seven. Also, individual were allowed more than three ejections.

The Rainbow Wahine return to action March 25 against UC Santa Barbara and March 26 versus San Jose State at the DKAC. Both matches begin at 4:30 p.m.
