Red Raiders Too Much For Rainbow Wahine, 6-1

HONOLULU - The 54th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders handed the Hawai`i women's tennis team a 6-1 defeat, Saturday, at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine (0-14-1) managed to pick up one singles victory by freshman Florence Wasko at the No. 6 position.

The Red Raiders claimed the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. In singles play, Texas Tech won four of its five matches in straight sets. However at court one, UH junior Kana Aikawa put a scare into Tara Browning winning the first set with relative ease, 6-1. Browning rallied to win the next two sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Wasko won her match in a super-tiebreaker third set (10-4), after she and Anne Sophie Fankam split the first two frames.

The Rainbow Wahine continue their homestand by hosting Western Athletic Conference foe New Mexico State, Tuesday, March 21. Match time is 3:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
