HONOLULU - The Hawai`i men's tennis team picked up its second consecutive victory over a nationally ranked team defeating No. 40 Arizona State, 4-3, Saturday, at the UH Tennis Complex. On Thursday, UH defeated No. 70 Purdue, 5-2, giving head coach
John Nelson his first win at UH over a nationally ranked program.
"This was a great performance by our guys tonight," Nelson said. "It's another step in the right direction. I'm proud of our guys and I've believed in them for a long time, it was a matter of them starting to believe in themselves."
The Rainbow Warriors (5-4) grabbed the doubles point with wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 court. The team of Ryan Sceats and Jarrod Diepraam defeated Jonathan Kinsella and Mike Beatty, 8-2 at court one. Moments later, UH's Sascha Heinemann and Chad Faulk upended Nick Hegarty and Wes Miller, 8-6, at No. 3. The Sun Devils won at No. 2 in a shortened tie-breaker, 8-7 (4) as T.J.
