HONOLULU - After three days of persistent rain, the Hawai`i and Portland women's tennis match ended in a draw with the dual match tied at 3-3. The final singles match was rained out on the originally scheduled match date on Monday and inclement weather suspended the continuation of the match the past two days. Portland's flight plans on Wednesday forced the dual match to end in a draw.
The deciding singles match at No. 5 between UH's Florence Wasko and Portland's Katie Kennel was knotted at one set a piece with Wasko leading the third 1-0.
The Pilots grabbed the early lead by winning all three doubles matches. The Rainbow Wahine (0-11-1) rallied in singles play, with victories at the top three positions. Kana Aikawa defeated Lindsey Griffin, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1, Chloe Bihag beat Christina Feyen, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2 and Samanta Cappella swept Jenna Tanzer, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3.
The Rainbow Wahine hosts No. 52 Oklahoma State, Wednesday, at 3:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
