New Mexico Wins Rain Suspended Match, 4-3

HONOLULU - The Hawai`i men's tennis match against New Mexico was finally completed, Wednesday, in the continuation of Monday's rain suspended match at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Warriors (3-4) suffered their fourth 4-3 loss of the season.

The teams played the six singles matches first. The Lobos won at Nos. 2, 4, and 6 while the Rainbow Warriors captured the Nos. 1 and 5 courts. With UH one match from defeat, senior Ryan Sceats pushed Graeme Kassautzki to the limit at the No. 3 court before falling, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. The loss was Sceats' first singles dual match defeat of the 2006 season.

With the outcome of the match already decided, UH still fought hard and swept the three doubles matches. Sceats and senior Jarrod Diepraam defeated Johnny Parkes and Kamil Pajkowski, 8-2, at No. 1. The duo of senior Bryon Weinberg and freshman Jeff Fitch improved to 6-2 on the season with an 8-5 victory over Eric Conklin and Kassautzki at the No. 2 court. At the No. 3 position, junior Chad Faulk and freshman Sascha Heinemann defeated Miles Bugby and Derek Lynch, 8-5.

UH will continue its weeklong homestand against No. 70 Purdue, Thursday, at 4:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
