Hawai`i Knocks Off Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 15-5

HONOLULU - All-American Iefke Van Belkum led the charge scoring three goals on three shots and Megan O'Linn came off the bench to tally another three scores as fifth-ranked Hawai`i tripled up Division III's No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, 15-5, today in a non-conference match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

Hawai`i used its entire 17-member squad in the victory with the exception of back-up goalie Jamie Wendell, who is on the injured list.

UH jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first quarter on goals by Van Belkum and Anna Sieprath.

CMS cut the deficit to one on a goal by Diana Kelly, but that is as close as the Athenas would get.

UH closed out the first quarter with scores from Emily Cox and Sabrina Cook. The Rainbow Wahine added another four goals in the second quarter to take an 8-1 halftime lead.

The Rainbow Wahine added five more goals in the third quarter and capped the scoring with two in the fourth to win, 15-5.

UH All-American goalie Meike De Nooy notched five saves, while CMS goalie Kerry Henley stopped two shots. CMS's Annie Richardson led the Athena attack with a pair of goals.

Hawai`i improved to 8-6 overall while CMS fell to 3-6. The Rainbow Wahine host No. 1 USC in an exhibition match this Saturday starting at 4:30 p.m.
