SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team is tied for 12th at the USD Callaway Golf Invitational after the first round of play at the Farms Golf Club, shooting a 309 as a team.
Jarett Hamamoto leads UH, firing a one-over-par 73, tying him for eighth individually. Pierre-Henri Soero shot a 77 to tie for 38th. Also competing for the Warriors are Kyle Walters (78, t-47), Cody Pewarchuk (81, t-68) and Ryan Perez (86, t-81).
San Diego State leads the tournament after the first round, shooting a 292. California (296) is in second, followed by St. Mary's (CA) and Loyola Marymount (297) and San Jose State and UC Davis (299).
Individually, Loyola Marymount's Jason D'Amore leads the way, shooting a first-round 66. Andrew Scott of SDSU is in second at 69, followed by St. Mary's Michael McRae (70) and UC Davis' Louie Bishop and Kevin Nabbefeld of San Jose State (71).
The second round is underway with the tournament closing up tomorrow.
