Warriors In 16th After Day One Of John Burns Intercollegiate

Day One Results

WAHIAWA, Oahu - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team shot a two-over-par 290 to hold 16th place after the first round at the John Burns Intercollegiate on the Leilehua Golf Course Wednesday.

Pierre-Henri Soero led the way for the team, firing an opening round 70 (-2), tying for 27th. Jarett Hamamoto is tied for 39th at 71 (-1), followed by Travis Toyama (72, E, t-55), Ryan Perez (77, +5, t-92) and Cody Wolfenbarger (80, +8, t-105).

Three Warriors competed individually, led by Cody Pewarchuk (71, -1, t-39). Also competing were Kyle Walters (74, +2, t-78) and Jordan Belton (77, +5, t-92).

Auburn leads the tournament, shooting a 15-under-par 273. They are followed by Arizona (-13), Long Beach State and Colorado State (-11) and Brigham Young (-10). Individually, Long Beach State's Brett Lederer leads, shooting a seven-under-par 65. He's followed by Bronson Burgood of Texas A&M and Jay Moseley of Auburn (66, -6), and six players tied at fourth place with scores of 67 (-5).

Play continues tomorrow with the tournament wrapping up on Friday.
