Rainbow Wahine Shutout By Northridge, 7-0

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team dropped a third match of its current six-match road trip to Cal State Northridge, 7-0, Monday, at the Northridge Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine fall to 0-7 on the 2006 season.

The Rainbow Wahine lost the doubles point by losing all three matches to the Matadors (4-2). At the No. 1 position, juniors Kana Aikawa and Samanta Cappella put up a valiant fight, but dropped a tough decision to Silvia Gutierrez and YuYu Myinttun, 8-5.

In singles play, CSUN swept all six matches in straight sets. The closest match came at the No. 2 court. In an exciting match, sophomore Chloe Bihag was defeated by Canna Furuta 7-6 (0), 6-3.

The Rainbow Wahine have a day off Tuesday and continue its six-match road trip Wednesday, Feb. 22 against Cal State Fullerton (1-8). Hawai`i will be looking for their first victory of the 2006 season. UH is 15-3 all time against the Titans.
