Heinemann, Fitch Bow Out Of Waikoloa Futures; UH Hosts Tulsa On Wednesday

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i - Sascha Heinemann and Jeff Fitch, the two remaining University of Hawai'i men's tennis players in the USTA's Waikoloa Futures tournament, were eliminated in the first round of the main draw, Tuesday, at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort.

Heinemann and Fitch were both qualifiers into the main draw after earning spots from the tournament's qualifying rounds.

Heinemann, a sophomore from Eschwege, Germany, fell to fifth-seeded Henry Adjei-Darko, ranked No. 481 in the world, 6-4, 6-1.

Fitch, a sophomore from Carlsbad, Calif., lost to David Lingman, 6-2, 6-1, the qualifying round's fifth seed who earned one of four "lucky loser" spots into the main draw.

Both Heinemann and Fitch return to Honolulu where they and the rest of the Rainbow Warriors compete in a mock dual match against Tulsa on Wednesday. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex. The result will not count toward either team's record, however, individual results will count.

Beginning on Saturday, the 'Bows will compete in the USTA's Honolulu Futures tournament at the UHTC. The qualifying round runs from Saturday through Monday, with the main draw starting on Tuesday.
