WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i - Four University of Hawai'i men's tennis players advanced to the second round of qualifying at the USTA's Waikoloa Futures tournament, Saturday, at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort.

Brent Hunter, Andreas Weber, Sascha Heinemann, and Jeff Fitch moved one step closer to earning a spot into the tournament's main draw. Eight qualifiers will advance to the 64-player draw beginning on Tuesday.

Hunter, a senior from Lubbock, Texas, defeated Daniel Pollock, 7-5, 6-1, to earn the right to face qualifying's top seed Jeff Williams.

Weber upended teammate Matt Seeberger, 6-1, 6-2, and will next face fifth-seeded Ross Connolly in the second round.

Heinemann, seeded 15th, easily defeated Tinotenda Chanakira, 6-1, 6-2, setting up a meeting with former UH teammate Byron Weinberg.

Fitch had no problems with Eddie Acuna, 6-3, 6-0. The senior will next face sixth-seeded David Stojan.

The tournament continues throughout the week.
