Rainbows Place Third At North/South Intersectional

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i coed sailing team concluded its fall season by finishing third at the North/South Intersectional hosted by UC Santa Barbara, Nov. 11-12. The Rainbows finished with a total of 138 points, 10 points behind first-place Stanford.

A total of 32 races were competed in four divisions in gusty conditions during the two-day event. Stanford's 123 point total proved best in the 18-team field, with USC finishing a close second at 123 points.

Mike Scott and Becky Mabardy sailed in the A division for the 'Bows, while Will Whitman, Andrew Meade and Cassie Harris sailed in the B division. Mark Spector had the best showing of the Rainbows, finishing second in C division with 24 points. Both Spector and Ryan Wild, who finished with 27 points in the D division, sailed singlehanded.

UH gets back in the water in January, opening up its spring scheudle in the Rainbow Invite, Jan. 20-21, at Keehi Lagoon.
