Faulk Lone Rainbow Warrior In Honolulu Futures Qualifying

HONOLULU - Chad Faulk was the lone University of Hawai'i men's tennis player to advance at the USTA's Honolulu Futures qualifying tournament, Sunday, at the UH Tennis Complex. The senior moves on the qualifying finals where he will face top-seeded Pierre-Ludovic Duclos for a spot into the tournament's main draw.

Faulk needed three sets to upset 11th-seeded A.J. Bartlett, 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-4, in second round action.

UH's remaining participants were eliminated on Sunday. Freshman Spencer Mendoza, of Waikoloa, dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to fifth-seeded Ross Connolly. Freshman Andreas Weber, of Huenfeld, Germany, was out-lasted by ninth-seeded Jeff Das, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2. Senior Brent Hunter, of Lubbock, Texas, was swept by eighth-seeded Dave Lingman, 6-1, 6-1.

Sophomore Sascha Heinemann will compete in the main draw after winning a wild card tournament earlier this year.

The qualifying tournament concludes on Monday with the main draw beginning on Tuesday.
