Coed Sailing Finishes Fourth At Stoney Burke Intersectional

SAN FRANCISCO - The University of Hawai`i coed and women's sailing teams were both in action this weekend at the Stoney Burke Intersectional hosted by California, Oct. 7-8. The coed squad finished fourth, while the women finished in ninth overall among the 22 teams competing.

A total on nine races were completed in the A division, while the B division finished eight races. Stanford won the regatta with a total of 74 points. The UH coed team tallied 107 points, while the Rainbow Wahine, who finished second among the six women's teams entered, finished with 185 points.

Sailing for the UH coed squad in A division were Mike Scott, Mark Spector and Becky Mabardy, while Andrew Meade, Will Whitman, Cassie Harris and Caitlin Hill competed in the B division. Shandy Bukley, Pam Magasinn, Sarah Dosek, Crystal Bronte and Mallory McCollum sailed for the Rainbow Wahine.

Next up for the coed team is the HYRA Lipton Cup One Design regatta Oct. 21-22 in Kaneohe, O`ahu, while the Rainbow Wahine head for the PCCSC Fall Women's Championship in Santa Cruz, Calif., the same weekend.
