Day One Results
KAPOLEI, O`ahu - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team shot a three-over-par 291 to move into first place after the first two rounds of the Kent Youel Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course Tuesday. UH (314-291=605) is at 29-over-par, two strokes ahead of UC Irvine and first round-leader San Francisco.
Carolina Perez (77-71=148) is the top UH golfer, holding third at four-over-par. Xyra Suyetsugu (77-72=149) is right behind in a tie for fourth at five-over-par. Dale Gammie (79-71=150) is tied for seventh at six-over-par, followed by Lisa Kajihara (t-38th, 81-77=158) and Corie Hou (t-53rd, 83-79=162).
Three UH golfers are competing as individuals, led by Nancy Shon (t-77th, 81-87=168). The other two are Phyllis Lai (82nd, 87-86=173) and Erin Matsuoka (83rd, 88-86=174).
The Rainbow Wahine lead the tournament, having the opportunity to win a team title for the first time in 10 years. Following them are UC Irvine and San Francisco (+31), Southern Methodist (+35) and Long Beach State (+39).
SMU's Lacey Jones holds the individual lead at even-par. She's followed by Melanie DeLeon of Nevada (+3), Perez (+4) and Suyetsugu (+5), along with Idaho's Renee Skidmore and UC Irvine's Selanee' Henderson (+5).
The tournament concludes with a single-round tomorrow, with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
