SAN DIEGO, Calif. - University of Hawai`i senior Sabita Walkup advanced to the consolation finals on day four of the Wilson/ITA West Region Championships Sunday at the Barnes Tennis Center.

Walkup, the 20th-seeded player and lone Rainbow Wahine left in the tournament, needed three sets to oust UCLA's Anna Victoria Lind, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Walkup, a transfer from Tennessee, will play Katja Decker-Sudowski of USC, who hasn't lost a set in consolation singles play.

Six other Rainbow Wahine played extra consolation matches. Senior Samanta Cappella won both of her matches, beating Sarah Yang of UCLA in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 and UC Santa Barbara's Wilson, 7-6 (2), 6-2.

The tournament concludes Monday with the singles main draw and consolation singles championships.
