SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Senior Sabita Walkup, the lone University of Hawai`i women's tennis player left in the Wilson/ITA West Region Championships, won her consolation round of 16 and quarterfinal matches to advance to the semifinals.

Walkup, the 20th-seeded player in the tournament, defeated Cal State Northridge's Silvia Gutierrez by walkover in the round of 16 and ousted Anete Bandere of Pepperdine in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-2, to advance to the semifinals. Walkup will play the winner of UCLA's Anna Victoria Lind and UCSB's Marta Simic Sunday.
