SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team completed day two of the Wilson/ITA West Region Championships Friday at the Barnes Tennis Center.

Senior Samanta Cappella fell to 16th-seeded Nikola Dimitrova of UNLV, 6-0, 6-0, and the doubles team of seniors Sabita Walkup and Jacqui Williams lost to top-seed Alex McGoodwin and Riza Zalameda of UCLA, 8-1.

In consolation singles play, junior Julia Sandborn lost a tough three-set match to Loyola Marymount's Erin Ivey, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Senior Kana Aikawa won a three-set match over UNLV's Mery Constanti, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0, in the round of 64. Aikawa was then ousted in the round of 32 to Stefanie Wetmore of UCLA, 6-3, 6-3. Walkup advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over H.R. Espiritu of UC Riverside.

The tournament continues Saturday as Walkup will compete for a spot in the consolation quarterfinals versus Silvia Gutierrez of Cal State Northridge.
