LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team is in third place after shooting a 13-over-par 301 in the first round of the Price's Give 'Em Five Invite at the New Mexico State Golf Course Monday.

Lisa Kajihara and freshman Corie Hou lead the way individually, as both shot a one-over-par 73, putting them in a tie for fifth. Xyra Suyetsugu is tied for 26th after shooting a 77, while Dale Gammie and Nancy Shon are tied for 36th after both shot a 78.

San Jose State holds the team lead, shooting an eight-over-par 296. Boise State is in second (+11), followed by UH (+13), Missouri (+14) and host New Mexico State (+16).

There is a four-way tie for first, individually, between NMSU's Lehua Wise, San Jose State's Jenelle Gomez and Cristina Corpus and Missouri's Ellen Hoeper, who all shot even par. Hou and Kajihara are tied with Colorado State's Chelsea Benton for fifth at one-over.

Play continues tomorrow before the tournament concludes Wednesday, Oct. 18.
