CHOUDRANT, La.- The University of Hawai`i men's golf shot a 314 in the second round of the Western Athletic Conference Championships to move into eighth place in the 10-team field. The Warriors have a 36-hole total of 631 heading into tomorrow's third and final round on the 7,105 yard Squire Creek golf course.
UH is led by Hilo-native Jarett Hamamoto, who began the day tied for second, but slipped into a tie for fifth after shooting a four-over 76 in the second round. Hamamoto's two round total sits at 148. Also competing for Hawai'i are sophomores Cody Wolfenbarger (T36, 161) and Pierre-Henri Soero (T36, 161) and seniors Kellen-Floyd Asao (T42, 162) and Ben Douglas (48, 168).
Despite a fierce second round charge by SMU and Louisiana State, Tulsa continues to lead the 10-team field after firing a 300 in the second round to bring their 36-hole total to 601, which is one stroke better than the second-place Mustangs. SMU's Will Dodson took command of the top spot on the individual leader board after shooting a one-under 71 through day two, which brought his two round total to 143. The WAC Championships will conclude tomorrow with the third round beginning at 8:00 a.m. EST.
