Warriors Finish Cougar Classic In Sixth

PROVO, Utah - The University of Hawaii men's golf team ended the PING Golf Cougar Classic, their final regular season competition of the year, in sixth place after firing a five-under 283 in the final round on the 7,001 yard Riverside Golf Course. The Warriors, who finished 11 strokes below par and never shot a round over 288 as a team, had a 54-hole total of 853- their lowest three round team total of the season

Junior Jarett Hamamoto led the Warriors through 54 holes as he finished tied for 12th place with a three round total of 209. Sophomore Cody Wolfenbarger moved six spots up the leader board en route to finishing tied for 17th with 211. Also competing for UH were sophomore Pierre-Henri Soero (215, T37) and seniors Kellen-Floyd Asao (218, T52) and Ben Douglas (228, T94).

Fresno State ran away with both the team and individual championship and finished the event with a 44-under-par 820, which set a new Cougar Classic record for the lowest 54-hole team total. Bulldog golfers finished one, two and three atop the leader board with Mark Modglin, who posted 202 over three rounds, taking home the individual title. The Warriors are now set to travel to Choudrant, La. for the 2005 WAC Championships on May 2-4. The championships will be held on the 7,105 yard Squire Creek Golf Course and hosted by Louisiana Tech.
