HONOLULU -
Kaulana Gould hit a clutch two-run double to leftfield in the top of the sixth inning to lift Hawai'i over Loyola Marymount in Bank of Hawaii Invitational Tournament action Saturday night at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Melissa Coogan threw her fourth shut-out and 12th complete game of the season in the victory.
In the second straight game, Hawai'i was in a scoreless battle until the sixth inning. But unlike the earlier 5-0 loss to Miami, the Rainbow Wahine came through with two runs in the top of the sixth. Dena DePompa, pinch running for Tausaga, promptly stole second base before Gould drove in the two runs.
LMU answered in the bottom of the sixth, scoring a run when Caylin Hornish drove in Margo Pineda who singled earlier. For the Lions, Jessica Grassi was the only "leading" hitter with a double to left-center in the third inning.
Hawai'i's Izumi went 2-for-4 and scored a run, while Kristi Yoshizawa went 2-for-3.
