Rainbow Wahine Finish Donnis Thompson In Fourth, Two Golfers In Top 10

KANEOHE, Hawai'i-- With sophomore golfers Dale Gammie and Sara Odelius finishing in the top 10, the University of Hawai'i women's golf team ended the 2005 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in third place with a 54-hole total of 996 on the windy 5,829-yard Kaneohe Klipper golf course. Wasington State seniors Kim Welch and Jey Lee Longbottom, who finished first and second respectively, helped the Cougars capture the team title with a team score of 976. Welch brought the second individual Donnis Thompson championship in as many years back to Washington with a 54-hole total of 235.

After finishing round two in first place, Gammie dropped three spots to finish in fourth after shooting a 10-over-par 82 in the final round. On the other hand, after beginning the day in 10th, Odelius fired a nine-over 81 in round three to jump four spots and finish tied for sixth. Junior Kari Sur, who was golfing as a non-scoring individual, notched the best finish of her collegiate career after finishing tied for 11th. Sur shot 252 over three rounds. Also competing for UH's scoring team were junior Tara Chappell (258, T21), freshman Xyra Suyetsugu (259, T 23) and sophomore Megan Stoddart (270, T35). Golfin as individuals were junior Roslyn Folk (261, T27) and junior Allie Rowe (283, 45).

The Rainbow Wahine will next be in action when they head to Tuscon for the Mountain View Collegiate on March 25-27.
