Hawai`i Drops The Second Game To Winthrop, 11-3

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (12-10) fell to the Winthrop Eagles (17-5) 11-3 in front of a crowd of 1,998 at the Les Murakami Stadium Wednesday. Colby Summer (1-1) took the loss for UH while Heath Rollins (3-3) got the win for Winthrop.

Gregory Kish played well, going 2-for-4 with one RBI. Jose Castaneda added a 1-for-3 game with a double while Isaac Omura was 0-for-1 with two walks and a sacrifice fly.

The Eagles scored first, driving in a run in the third, taking a 1-0 lead. But the Rainbows quickly responded as Kish and Omura drove in back-to-back runs, to take a 2-1 lead.

Winthrop tied it at two in the fourth before scoring nine runs between the sixth and eighth innings, putting the game away.

Hawai`i was able to add a run in the sixth, scored by Matthew Inouye, but that proved to be it, as the Eagles took the 11-3 victory.

Hawai`i will have one day before hosting Louisiana Tech for their WAC opener on Friday, March 18, at 6:35 p.m.
