Rainbow Wahine Blow By Bloomsburg

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis returned to winning form with a convincing 7-0 win over NCAA Division II member Bloomsburg University, Thursday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. Hawai`i opens a five-match home stand by improving to 4-9, while the Huskies dropped their third straight, going to 3-3.

Hawai`i was dominant in doubles, sweeping all three matches to take the team point, and exhibited the same control in singles play. Only one of the Rainbow Wahine's six singles match wins went to three sets, as Hawai`i's Kana Aikawa rebounded from losing a second set tiebreaker to Bloomsburg's Tracy Nissenbaum to win the third set, super-tiebreaker, 10-5. Highlights for the Rainbow Wahine included straight set wins by seniors Justine Boutet, Paige Mainor, and Kimberly Curtis.

"We played very well today," Hawai`i head coach Carolyn Katayama said. "A win like this certainly helps the team's confidence."

Hawai`i returns to the court to face future WAC-member Utah State on Thursday, Mar. 16, at the UH Tennis Complex. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
