Rain Interrupts UH-SJSU Tennis Match

LOS GATOS, Calif. - Inclement weather interrupted the conclusion of the Hawai`i-San Jose State women's tennis match, Monday, at the Los Gatos Swim and Racquet Club. The Rainbow Wahine won two of the three doubles matches before rain forced the cancellation of singles play.

The match was originally scheduled for last Thursday but rain forced the teams to reschedule the match for today. No make-up date has been announced. Since the match was not completed only the individual matches count toward the players' records.

UH's top two doubles teams won their respective matches. The duo of senior Lauren Fitzgerald and sophomore Sylvia Jaros defeated Elke Harms and Roxanne Larijani, 8-1 at the No. 1 court. The Spartans captured the No. 3 spot when Courtney Koenigsfeld and Kathy Van beat senior Justine Boutet and sophomore Samanta Capella, 8-2.

In the deciding match, senior Kimberly Curtis and freshman Chloe Bihag edged SJSU's June Lee and Ashley Tavita, 8-5.

The Rainbow Wahine conclude their five-match road trip at UC Davis on Tuesday. First serve is set for 1:30 at the Mayra Welch Tennis Center.
