Rainbow Wahine Finish 13th At The NMSU Intercollegiate; Gammie Takes Fifth

Final Results

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team finished the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate with a final round 311, to take 13th with a final score of 925 (+61). Dale Gammie fired a 69 for the final round, moving her into a tie for fifth at +3.

Gammie shot rounds of 72, 78 and 69 to finish at 219, three-over-par for the tournament. Xyra Suyetsugu was the next highest UH finisher, tying for 33rd (76, 76, 77, +13). Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were Lisa Kajihara (t-51, +17), Tara Chapell (t-101, +34) and Carolina Perez (t-101, +34).

Missouri won the tournament with a team-score of +27. Tournament host New Mexico State tied instate rival New Mexico for second at +29, followed by San Francisco (+33) and Long Beach State (+35).

New Mexico's Mikaela Backstedt won the individual title with a playoff win over Jessica Potter of San Francisco. The two shot -3 for the tournament. Missouri's Denise K. Munzlinger took third at even-par, followed by Kay Hoey of Long Beach State (+1), Gammie and Bryana Gregory of UC Davis (+3).

UH's next tournament will be their Kent Youel Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course on Nov. 1 and 2.
