Day One Results
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team finished the first day of the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate in 12th place at +38, firing a 305 in round one and a 309 in round two, at the New Mexico State Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine ended the first round in a tie for seventh, but fell back to 12th after round two. New Mexico leads the field of 20 at +15, followed by Missouri (+16), San Francisco (+19), host New Mexico State (+22) and Long Beach State (+23).
UH was led by Dale Gammie, who's tied for 19th at +6. Gammie shot an even-par 72 in round one, then fell back with a six-over-par 78 in the second round. Lisa Kajihara is right behind, tied for 25th at +7 (76, 75), with Xyra Suyetsugu tied for 32nd at +8 (76, 76). Carolina Perez (+20, t-95th) and Tara Chappell (+23, t-103rd) round out the Hawai`i scorers.
Missouri's Denise K. Muzlinger and New Mexico's Mikaela Backstedt are tied for the tournament's individual lead at -4, followed by San Francisco's Jessica Potter (-3), New Mexico's Ashley Rollins (-1) and Nevada's Melanie DeLeon (E).
The collegiate concludes tomorrow with a 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
