FAIRFAX, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team shot team scores of 291 and 293 in the first two rounds of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, placing them at No. 16 in the field.
Jarret Hamamoto shot an even-par 71 in each of the first two rounds, placing him in a tie for 30th. Kyle Walters (71, 74 - 145) is at +3, in a tie for 49th while Cody Wolfenbarger (75, 71 - 146) is right behind in a tie for 57th at +4. Pierre-Henri Soero (74, 77 - 151, +9, t-74) and Ryan Perez (82, 77 - 159, +17, 81) also competed for the Warriors.
Purdue is leading the tournament with a -14, 554 through two rounds, followed by Michigan (-13, 555), host California (-11, 557), Stanford (-10, 558) and Cal Poly (-6, 562).
Michigan's Christian Vozza leads the tournament, shooting a first-day 132 (-10), including the low round of the day, a 64 on the second round. Stanford's Rob Grube (-9, 133), Cal Poly's Peter Mores (-8, 134), Brian Ottenweller (-8, 134) and California's Jeff Vetterick (-7, 135) round out the top five.
The invitational concludes on Oct. 11.
