STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team placed 11th at the Stanford Invitational, Saturday, at the Stanford Golf Course. The Rainbow Wahine had a respectable showing at the 4K event, which was won by the host Cardinal.
Sophomore Dana Buchanan was UH's top finisher, completing the race in 14:38 for 20th place. Fellow sophomores Chantelle Laan and Kelly Young were the next Rainbow Wahine to cross the finish line with times of 15:15 and 15:19, good for 45th and 49th, respectively.
A total of 21 teams and 158 competitors participated in the 4K race. UH's other qualifiers were Danielle Binns (15:37, 71st) and Sharlene Carillo (16:28, 112th).
A UH split squad competed at the BYU-Hawai`i Invitational, Saturday, on the Seasider campus. Hawai`i's "B" team finished fourth behind the state's Division II teams. Ashley Monfort was the top Rainbow Wahine finisher, completing the 5K race in 21:38 for 15th place.
