ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--The University of Hawai`i women's golf team remained in 12th place after shooting a 25-over-par 313 in the second round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, hosted by the University of New Mexico.
The Rainbow Wahine were once again led by all-WAC sophomore Sara Odelius, who fired an even-par 73 to move two spots up the leader board into a tie for 5th place, five strokes off the lead. Odelius was followed by walk-on freshman Xyra Suyetsugu, who shot a two-over 75 and rolled into a tie for 19th place after beginning the day tied for 28th. Odelius and Suyetsugu are standing at one-under-par and four-over par, respectively. Other Rainbow Wahine competing are sophomores Dale Gammie (10-over-par, T-56) and Megan Stoddart (24-over-par, 93) and junior Kari Sur (22-over-par, 92).
Georgia leads the 17-team field with a two-over par 586 after two rounds of action. The Lady Bulldogs posted a seven-over 299 in the second round to stay ahead of New Mexico and BYU. Oklahoma State's Karin Sjodin shot a four-under 71 in the second round to move into first place on the leader board. Sjodin leads Georgia's Kelly Froelich by one stroke.
The third and final round at UNM's Championship Course will begin for Hawai`i at 8:00 a.m when Suyetsugu ties off for the Rainbow Wahine.
