Freshman Power UH at BYU-Dixie Classic

ST GEORGE, Utah –-The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine golf team saved its best performance for the final day, firing a total of 313 to finish in ninth place in the BYU-Dixie Classic at the Estrada Golf Course. The Rainbow Wahine were unable to move up the standings despite the performances of freshman Dale Gammie and Sara Odelius, who both finished in the top ten.

Odelius continued her tear in the spring season with her fourth consecutive top ten finish and fifth on the season with a seventh place showing. Odelius shot a two-under 70 in round three and totaled an eight-over 224 for the tournament. In fourth place after two rounds yesterday, Gammie was in striking distance of the individual title but faltered a bit in the final round to finish in a tie for ninth. Gammie shot a seven-over 79 for a three-round total of 226 (+10), which put her in a tie for ninth place. Also participating for the Rainbow Wahine were sophomore Brooke Jackson (247, +31), sophomore Kari Sur (256, +40) and senior Megan McGuinness (187, +59).

UNLV blew away the 13-team field, winning by 27 strokes with a total of 876 (+12). The Rebel’s Sunny Oh was the only player to finish under par and won the individual title with a one-under 215, three strokes ahead of teammate Seema Sedekar.

The Rainbow Wahine conclude their spring schedule in El Paso, Texas, the site of the 2004 Western Athletic Conference Championships, April 19-21.
