WAIPAHU - Lone senior Renata Camargo went out with a bang in her final home match, leading the Hawai'i women's tennis team to a convincing 6-1 victory over Azusa Pacific, the No. 9 ranked team in the NAIA, Monday afternoon, at the Central Oahu Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine snapped a six-match losing streak and improved to 8-11 overall.

The Sao Paulo, Brazil native teamed with Justine Boutet to win their doubles match, 8-0, over Lynn Quintoriano and Christina Scolinos at No. 3 and swept Quintoriano, 6-0, 6-1 in her singles match at the No. 6 court. Camargo posted her seventh consecutive singles victory and improved to 13-3 in singles action this season.

A transfer from the College of Charleston, Camargo has been nothing but brilliant during her two-year career at UH, posting a 25-5 mark in singles matches.

After sweeping the double matches, UH easily won all of its singles matches except for the No. 4 court, where Paige Mainor struggled with back problems and was forced to retire after losing the first set 7-5 to Christina Earnest. Boutet snapped her personal seven-match losing skid with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Peggy Bell at No. 3.

Lauren Fitzgerald, Sylvia Jaros and Kimberly Curtis won their singles matchs without much struggle at the Nos. 1, 2 and 6 courts, respectively.

The Rainbow Wahine finish their regular season on the road at Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, and UC Riverside, April 15-17.
