WAIPAHU - The Hawai'i women's tennis team defeated Portland, 4-3, Tuesday, at the Central Oahu Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine won its second match in as many days to improve to 7-5 on the year, including a perfect 7-0 mark against non-ranked teams.
Hawai'i won two of the three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead. The teams then split the six singles matches for the victory. At the No. 1 court, junior Lauren Fitzgerald won her seventh match of the season, after sweeping Cristin Sammins, 6-4, 6-2.
Freshman Sylvia Jaros snapped a two-match losing streak with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Sanja Indic at No. 3 singles. Senior Renata Camargo continued her winning ways with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Rebecca Correll at the No. 6 court to improve to a team-leading 8-3 in singles action.
The Rainbow Wahine return to the court against Tennessee, Wednesday, March 10. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Central Oahu Tennis Complex.
