HONOLULU - The University of Hawaii defeated Siena College 8-0 today in the 4th Kipa Aloha Malihini Tournament at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Hawaii improved to 13-12 on the season and 4-2 in the tourney. Siena fell to 0-8 and 0-6.
UH took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Tracie Uchima walked, moved to second on a ground out, and scored when Denise Dahlberg got aboard on an infield single, but the throw by the SC first baseman went into right field allowing Uchima to trot home.
The Rainbow Wahine posted two three-run innings in the third and fifth frames, before Tyleen Tausaga doubled home the final run in the sixth to close out the game with the 8-run rule.
Tausaga had the big stick for UH going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI.
UH's Shannon Tabion tossed a perfect game, retiring all 18 batters she faced. The Wailuku, Maui, native struckout four upping her record to 9-1 in the spring, including 3-0 in the tourney, while Siena's Tisha Salamino lost her first decision of the year.
