UH-California Box Score

UH-Nittaidai Box Score

HONOLULU - California's Haley Woods hit a two-out single to left field propelling the Golden Bears by Hawai'i, 2-1, tonight in the third day of the Hawai'i Invitational at the RWSS. UH then lost 9-1 in the second game to Nittaidai with the game ending in the fifth inning because of the 8-run mercy rule.

In the first game, both Cal and UH scored single runs in the first and second innings, respectively, and it stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh inning.

UH's Shannon Tabion (11-5), who came on in relief for Melissa Coogan in the fifth, recorded outs with the first two batters before issuing a single to Lindsay James and a double to Kaleo Eldredge to set up Woods' heroics.

In game two, Nittaidai exploded for a five-run fifth inning en route to a 9-1 victory, their first of the tournament, over UH. The game was an exhibition one for the Rainbow Wahine.

Nittaidai's Iijima Maya picked up the win striking out three and walking two. UH's Caroline Blood took the loss going 4.1 innings. Rachel Gossett came on in relief and walked all four batters she faced before Paula Blanning took the circle for the final one-third of an inning.

The win improved California to 32-3 on the season and 5-0 in the tournament. UH falls to 16-16 and 2-3.

The tournament concludes on Sunday with the Rainbow Wahine schedule for only a 3 p.m. televised game against nationally ranked Texas.
