SALINAS, Calif. -The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine golf team is in ninth place with a total of 613 following the first two rounds of the Spartan Invitational hosted by San Jose State University. Hawaii shot a first-round 309 and a second-round 304 at the 6,010-yard Corral de Tierra Golf Course.
Sara Odelius, a freshman from Sweden, looked impressive in round one as she finished with a two-under par 70, which tied her for first place. Odelius slipped to seventh place after a three-over par 75 in round two. Sophomore Tara Chappell followed Odelius with a two-round total of 156, tying her for 49th. Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are freshman Dale Gammie (159, T58), senior Rene Krause (160, T63) and freshman Megan Stoddart (160, T63).
After two rounds UCLA is leading the 17-team field with a three-under par 573, nine strokes ahead of second-place California. UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas leads all individuals with a five-under par 139. She is followed closely by California's Sophie Andersson (141).
Action will begin tomorrow morning as the teams start the final round of the Spartan Invitational.
