UH, Tabion Blank Saints, 8-0, in Game 1

Box Score

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i softball team got back on the winning track tonight blanking Siena College 8-0 in the first game of a doubleheader behind the complete-game pitching effort of Shannon Tabion.

UH got on the board in the first inning as Tracie Uchima led off with a single up the middle, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on April Crowell's single to left center.

That was all the scoring Tabion (6-1), a junior from Wailuku, Maui, needed as she limited the Saint offense to only two hits.

UH put the game away with three runs in the third inning highlighted by a two-run triple by Denise Dahlberg, who in turn came home on a throwing error by the catcher.

The Rainbow Wahine added four more runs in the sixth on a two-run double by Tyleen Tausaga, chasing Saint starting pitcher Tara Campbell (0-1). Then Dahlberg drove home the final two runs on a double to the left center gap, to end the game with the 8-run rule.

Hawai'i improves to 8-10 on the season while Siena falls to 0-1. The two teams play a second game later tonight.
